Veteran Nigerian journalist, Dr. Emmanuel Ojeagbase, is dead.
Ojeagbase was the Founder and Executive Chairman of Complete Communications Limited, publishers of Complete Sports newspapers, SuccessDigest magazine.
His demise was announced on Monday by A representative of the family, Mr Julius Ojeagbase.
According to the statement, Ojeagbase died on Saturday, February 26, 2022, in Atlanta, the United States of America following a brief illness.
Ojeagbase, who hailed from Uzebba in Owan West of Edo State, rose to limelight into for pioneering the publication of sports news in Nigeria when he established Sports Souvenir weekly newspaper in 1984.
The media entrepreneur, who was also a retired soldier of the Nigerian Army, started his career into sports journalism as a stringer at the Daily Times newspapers in the mid-1970s.
Between 1984 and 1994, Ojeagbase introduced several other pioneering sports titles including Complete Football magazine, Complete Football International, and International Soccer Review into the Nigerian sports market.
He is survived by his wife, Pastor (Mrs) Esther Ojeagbase, children as well as grandchildren and other relatives.
Burial arrangements will be announced by the family, according to the statement.
