In a recent development, the Anambra State Joint Security Force has intensified efforts to apprehend criminals targeting security installations in the state, now expanding their search to the Ogbaru forest region.
According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra, this move comes in response to escalating security threats. In a statement issued in Onitsha and shared with journalists, Ikenga revealed that nine Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and four walkie talkies were discovered and safely neutralized by the Police Bomb Squad.
Commending the unwavering support of the military in combating criminal activities, Anambra’s Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, acknowledged the collaborative efforts of various security agencies including the Department of Security Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), and local Vigilante Groups. Their collective synergy has been instrumental in yielding positive results.
Expressing concern over the proliferation of cult-related violence, Adeoye issued a stern warning to cultists operating within the state. He emphasized that law enforcement agencies will not tolerate activities that disrupt peace and lead to loss of lives. It is imperative for cultists to understand that their days of impunity are numbered.
