On April 5, a distressing incident unfolded in Minna, the capital of Niger state. Hoodlums obstructed Kuta Road and assaulted individuals heading for Tahajud prayers, as per Vanguard reports. The attack occurred at approximately 1:00 am, leaving the community in shock.

Aliyu Isah, a resident, expressed concerns about the escalating violence. He revealed that armed hoodlums had been terrorizing Minna for five consecutive days. Areas such as Kpakungu, Soje, Anguwan Daji, Limawa, and Ogbomosho were particularly targeted. The motive behind these assaults remains unclear.

Police Responds to Assault on Worshippers in Niger

SP Wasiu Abiodun, the spokesperson for the Niger state police command, addressed the situation. He assured the public that law enforcement was actively engaged and striving to contain the situation. Patrol teams were deployed promptly, and arrests were made at various locations linked to the attacks.

Public Outcry Against Violence

In response to the disturbing events, Nigerians took to social media to express their outrage.

Ramadan Advisory by Hisbah Board

Meanwhile, in Kano state, the Hisbah Board issued a directive concerning Ramadan. Non-Muslims were urged to refrain from eating in public spaces during the fasting period. This measure aims to uphold respect for the observance and prevent Muslims from facing temptation.
