The ASUU president said that Pantami should not be treated as a professor because his promotion was illegal.
The Higher Education Academic Staff Union (ASUU) has appointed Dr. Isa Ali Pantami was declared illegal by the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy.
This was stated by the union in a press conference after the National Executive Council meeting on Monday, February 14, 2022.
According to ASUU President Prof Emanuel Osodeke, Pantami should not be treated as a professor because his promotion is illegal.

Osodeke said: “You can’t be a priest and a university teacher. This is to encourage illegality.
“Pantami should resign as minister and face duplication charges in the same federal system. He doesn’t qualify. Pantami shouldn’t be treated like a professor.”
Pantami was promoted to the professor by the Board of Directors of the Federal University of Technology, Overry (FUTO) at the 186th Board Meeting in November 2021.
We remind you that the board has been criticized for promoting Pantami, which is not an academic member of the university.
However, ASUU promised to impose sanctions on the Vice-Chancellor of the University and all its members involved in advancing Pantami.
