In a recent interview on The Baller Alert, Omah Lay expressed his respect for Afrobeats icon Davido, calling him a legend. When asked about which Nigerian superstar he wanted to collaborate with, Omah Lay immediately mentioned Davido, revealing that they have a song coming out soon.

The Port Harcourt-born singer described his collaboration with the Grammy nominee as a perfect match for their styles.

“Actually, we have a song, and it’s coming out soon. I am very excited about the record because it’s something I never imagined would be this great and cool,” Omah Lay shared.

He continued to praise Davido, saying, “The way we got along and made the record is so cool, and Davido is also an amazing person.”

Discussing the rise of Afrobeats in the U.S., Omah Lay noted that there are many prominent stars from Nigeria, with Davido being one of the biggest. “Davido is a legend. He is big big,” he said, highlighting the significant role Davido has played in promoting Afrobeats globally.

The announcement of their collaboration comes just months after Omah Lay stirred up conversation online when he jokingly mentioned that he thought Davido disliked him.

While he didn’t reveal the name of the upcoming song, Omah Lay confirmed it would be released soon. Fans are eagerly anticipating this track, which will come before his highly awaited sophomore album. He recently mentioned that he had to restart this project after an artist he shared his ideas with stole them.

Regarding his relationships with other Nigerian Afrobeats stars, Omah Lay noted that there is a strong sense of mutual respect among them. He added that the competition drives them to continuously improve and strive to be the best.
