EFCC Witch Hunting Kwankwaso – NNPP

The National Youth Leader of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), Auwal Musa, has condemned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) investigation into former Kano State Governor, Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso, labeling it as a politically motivated witch-hunt.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday in Kaduna, Musa asserted that the investigation was driven by political rivals aiming to tarnish Kwankwaso’s reputation.

“I challenge the EFCC to present concrete evidence regarding the allegations. Otherwise, we see this as an attempt to witch-hunt and victimize him,” Musa stated.

Musa also questioned the timing of the investigation, arguing that there was no justification for the EFCC to scrutinize Kwankwaso’s tenure from 2015 to 2023, considering he had been out of office for nine years.

“Why has the EFCC waited this long to investigate him, and why are they now looking into party affairs?” Musa asked.

He emphasized that investigating a person like Kwankwaso, whom he described as ‘honest and hardworking,’ would only be a waste of time.

“Go to Kano and see his achievements as governor. Check his records as Defence Minister and Senator,” he added.

Musa called on the EFCC to ignore any petitions against Kwankwaso from politicians or their associates.

Regarding the internal issues within the NNPP, Musa mentioned that the party had resolved all its crises, including power struggles among officials at various levels.

“We recently conducted successful elections for various offices in 13 states,” he said.

He also noted that the party had updated its logo and restructured its campaign strategy in preparation for the 2027 elections.

“We hope the NNPP will make a significant impact and secure national and state seats in the upcoming elections. Nigerian youths are ready to bring about serious changes in the national political scene. We will take over the government and rescue this country from poor administration,” Musa concluded.
