Nigerian Nail Artist Completes 72-Hour Painting Marathon in Plateau, Aiming for Guinness World Record
Lisha Dachor, a 19-year-old nail artist from Plateau State, Nigeria, recently concluded her ambitious attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest nail painting marathon by an individual.
During the event, known as a “nail-a-thon,” Dachor diligently painted over 4,000 artificial nails over a span of 72 hours. Expressing her excitement and gratitude, she took to her Facebook page to share her achievement, stating, “Breaking barriers and setting records! Honoured to have set a new milestone in the world of nail art with the longest marathon painting of artificial nails by an individual. Grateful for the journey and the incredible support.”
The journey began with Dachor’s announcement on April 25th, declaring her intention to take on the challenge from April 28th to May 1st at Odilin’s Event Centre, situated behind the National Library in Jos, the capital of Plateau State. She even made arrangements for free bus transportation to and from the venue to facilitate attendees’ participation.
In an interview with the BBC, Dachor shared her motivation behind the record attempt, aiming to shed a positive light on Plateau State. “People judge the Plateau by its cover. Apart from the ethnic issues we have, Plateau is a beautiful place. I got support from all ethnic groups while I embarked on this attempt,” she stated. Additionally, she aimed to challenge stereotypes surrounding teen mothers like herself, emphasizing her desire to inspire hope, especially among single mothers.
Awaiting the review of her attempt by the Guinness World Records, Dachor eagerly anticipates validation of her feat, supported by evidence documenting her marathon nail-painting session.
The conclusion of the “nail-a-thon” garnered widespread celebration and commendation, particularly from netizens. Plateau State Governor, Caleb Muftwang, took to social media to express his pride in Dachor’s accomplishment, applauding her “record-breaking spirit” and acknowledging her as a beacon of talent from Plateau State.

This feat adds to a series of recent Guinness World Records achieved by Nigerians, including Tunde Onakoya’s record-breaking 60-hour chess marathon alongside his partner Shawn Martinez, and Clara Kronborg’s longest interview record, both demonstrating Nigeria’s growing presence on the global stage of achievements.
