Guinness World Records has officially recognized Nigerian biochemist Oside Oluwole for completing the longest video game marathon.

Guinness World Records (GWR) shared this remarkable achievement on social media, announcing Oluwole as the new record holder.

Oluwole, a 24-year-old, set this record by playing a soccer video game continuously for 75 hours, completing over 500 games in the process.

He shattered the previous record of 50 hours, which was set by Englishman David Whitefoot in 2022.

In his hometown of Ijebu-Ode, Oluwole embarked on this challenge to raise funds for a local hospital.

GWR highlighted Oluwole’s impressive achievement, noting that he significantly exceeded the previous record.

Announcing Oluwole’s milestone, GWR wrote:

“Before now, no one has broken this record by such a large margin as Oside has. It was first set in 2010 with a time of 24 hours and gradually increased to 50 hours after being beaten seven times in 11 years.”
