American reality star Kim Kardashian has shared her concerns about feeling like she’s “turning into a full robot” with “no emotion” due to past trauma.
During the July 18 episode of The Kardashians, Kim discussed her mental health struggles with her sister Khloe Kardashian.
“[My therapist] said, ‘You think calm is your superpower. I think you are so desensitized from trauma that you literally are frozen in fight or flight,'” she recalled. “She also said, ‘Once in your life, something happened, and you stayed calm. It worked for you then, so now you always choose calm.'”
Khloe suggested that Kim’s calm demeanor could be traced back to the traumatic 2016 Paris robbery.
“Before the robbery, you were never calm,” Khloe noted. “As a teenager and in your 20s, you cried about everything. You were bratty, threw tantrums. But everything changed after you got robbed. You stayed calm during that situation, and you even said, ‘My calmness is what kept me alive.'”
In a private conversation with the cameras, Kim reflected on the robbery and its impact on her mental health.
“Imagine having a gun to your head, being tied up, dragged across a hotel room, and the guy telling you, ‘Just stay calm and you’ll live.’ And I did that,” she said.
“Staying calm served me well at that moment and probably saved my life. But I think I’ve let it go too far. Now, people might take advantage of my calmness, or I’m just turning into a full robot with no emotion.”
