The distressing incident unfolded on Sunday, May 5, 2024, as reported by Ekiti Trends. Shared on X platform the following Monday, the video captured the aggressor, clad in black attire, subjecting her peer, dressed in a yellow gown, to physical abuse, while bystanders looked on.

In the video, amidst the distressing scene, a female voice, presumably a fellow student, remarked, “They are friends,” shedding light on the relationship between the two. Furthermore, the voice disclosed, “She is quite popular in the Mass Communication Department,” providing context about the victim.

Throughout the altercation, the aggressor, speaking in Yoruba, accused the victim of disrespectful language and continued to threaten her. “You called me a bastard, you must be mad!” she shouted while persisting with the assault. Unrelenting, she vowed, “I am waiting for who will stop me from not beating you till you bleed.”

At another juncture in the video, witnessed by bystanders, the victim is seen fleeing to seek refuge, only to be pursued by her tormentor into an alleyway.

The distressing ordeal concludes with the victim pleading for mercy while the aggressor persists in her threats of further violence.

The dissemination of the video sparked outrage among social media users. Ekiti Baby Governor TK, tweeting under the handle @TanimolaKolade, advocated for the expulsion of the bully, echoing the sentiments of many online.

Expressing dismay, another user, Ife, tweeting as @Onieolowo, questioned the inaction of those present during the incident. “This is disheartening. No one there could even stand up for the girl. I hope the authorities will do the needful,” he lamented.

Similarly, Ife, tweeting as @ife_dilrealty, called for the apprehension of the aggressor and her associates, urging intervention from law enforcement. “Those guys should be arrested as well. I think the @PoliceNG should do the needful,” the tweet read.

This distressing event follows closely on the heels of another bullying incident at Lead British International School, Abuja, which garnered significant attention weeks prior. In response to public outcry, the Federal Capital Territory Administration temporarily closed the school for three days. Subsequently, the perpetrator issued an apology for her actions.

In light of the incident, the university’s management released a statement affirming their commitment to investigating the matter thoroughly.
