NNPP Members Call for Kano Governor Yusuf to Resign Within 48hrs

Kano – NNPP members from the 19 northern states have given Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano state a 48-hour deadline to resign from his position. This decision came after an emergency meeting held on Saturday, April 13, where stakeholders also passed a vote of no confidence in the governor.

Reasons Behind NNPP’s Call for Yusuf’s Resignation

In a statement released to Legit.ng on Monday, April 15, NNPP members highlighted that Yusuf has veered away from the party’s goals and isn’t adhering to the NNPP’s development plans for the state. They accuse him of engaging in political vendettas and witch hunts, straying from the party’s intended path.

The communique can be stated in part as follows:

“As stakeholders, we can no longer pretend that all is well when clearly, nothing is working. Kano State was supposed to be the model for the Federal Government to follow.”

What Achievements Can be Attributed to Governor Yusuf in Kano?

Stakeholders expressed disappointment that Kano, envisioned as a model for exemplary leadership and governance, hasn’t lived up to expectations. They expected Kano to set a standard challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government at the federal level. However, they feel the opposite has occurred. They are worried that the governor seems to lack a clear ideology and that the NNPP has not presented a concrete development plan for the state.

Why I Declined Governor Yusuf’s Handshake – Musa

Ahmed Musa, a former Nigerian footballer, clarified his decision not to shake hands with the Kano governor. Musa explained that his action was rooted in cultural norms and expressed frustration over various interpretations circulating on social media. He emphasized that in the northern region, where he hails from, bowing to elders signifies the utmost respect.
