Obi explained that his decision was driven by a desire to work toward meaningful change and what he described as the rescue and transformation of Nigeria’s political landscape. He said the move marks the beginning of a new effort aimed at addressing the country’s challenges and setting the stage for a better future.

At the ceremony, leaders from the South-East who have supported Obi also announced their alignment with the ADC after months of consultations. They described the choice as a strategic step to unite opposition voices and push for a different direction in national leadership.

Obi reiterated his commitment to resisting election rigging and called for opposition forces to work together ahead of the 2027 polls. His supporters see the move as an attempt to broaden political reach and build a stronger platform for national reform.
