Responding to a leak in the United States tabloid, a legal representative for the Duke of Sussex, stated that it was ‘important to release a press statement, setting matters regarding this issues straight’ regarding Prince Harry pleas for personal security after the case was filed in September 2021.

‘The Duke and Duchess of Sussex personally paid for a private security group for the royal family, yet the security team provided does not surpass the necessary protection by the police needed in the United Kingdom. In the absence of this protection, it is unfortunate that Prince Harry and his wife cannot return home,’ the statement read.

Ever since stepping down on their roles as senior members of the royal house since 2020, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle lost their police protection which was funded by taxpayers. The Duke was the first to offer for UK security for himself and his family since 2020 when he paid a visit to Sadringham, as the statement noted.

Even though the offer was rejected, the Duke representative made it clear that he is ever willing to cover the cost of security, ‘as not to impose on the taxpayers in Britain.’ ‘The aim of Prince Harry has been simple, which is to guarantee the safety of himself and his family while in England so his children can know his home country,’ the statement said.

‘The representative also noted that Prince Harry’s trip to the United Kingdom last year was to unveil the statue presented in honor of his late mother, Princess Diana. During that visit, his security team was ‘jeopardised due to the unavailability of the police protection’ while leaving the event. According to The Guardian news, his car was chased by the crowd.

‘With the absence of police protection, comes a great deal of risk. Prince Harry sincerely hopes that his plea which has spanned for almost two years, will resolve the situation.’ Prince Harry and Meghan gave birth to their second child, Lilibet Diana, on the 4th day of June, 2021. It is thus, surprising that her daughter is yet to meet her great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth and grandfather, Prince Charles or other senior members of the royal house in person.
