American rapper Travis Scott was taken into custody on Friday following an altercation at a luxury hotel in Paris, as reported by French authorities.
According to a statement from the Paris prosecutor’s office, “Police were summoned to the Georges V hotel, where Travis Scott was arrested for assaulting a security guard. The security agent had intervened to separate the rapper from his bodyguard.”
At the time of the incident, it was not immediately clear if the 33-year-old artist was indeed being detained.
Just the night before, Scott had been seen attending the Olympic men’s basketball semi-finals.
The rapper, whose legal name is Jacques Bermon Webster, has had previous run-ins with the law. In June, he was arrested in Miami Beach on charges of trespassing and disorderly intoxication.
Despite his legal issues, Scott’s career continues to thrive. His latest album, Utopia, received a nomination for Best Rap Album at this year’s Grammy Awards.
Beyond his music, Scott is involved in several business ventures, including collaborations with major brands like Nike, Epic Games, and McDonald’s.
On a personal note, Scott shares two children with Kylie Jenner, a well-known social media influencer and business mogul.
