Singer Rema Reportedly Paid $3 Million to Perform at Mukesh Ambani's Son’s Wedding

The ‘Calm Down’ hitmaker is set to perform at the wedding of Anant Ambani, son of Asia’s wealthiest man Mukesh Ambani, and Radhika Merchant, daughter of pharmaceutical magnates.

Rema hinted at his arrival on Instagram, sharing a video of himself boarding a private jet dressed in stylish all-black attire. The post, featuring his song ‘Azaman’ and an Indian flag emoji, built anticipation for his performance.

The wedding, scheduled for July 12 at Mumbai’s Jio World Centre, marks the grand finale of a months-long celebration by the Ambani family.

Rema’s performance is reported to cost an estimated $3 million for his chart-topping hit ‘Calm Down.’ He joins an impressive lineup, with Justin Bieber reportedly earning $10 million for his appearance and pop icon Rihanna having already graced the event with her presence.

This four-day extravaganza is not just a musical spectacle. The guest list reads like a who’s who of global influencers, blending entertainment royalty with political powerhouses. Reality TV star Kim Kardashian is expected to mingle with former world leaders, including ex-UK Prime Ministers Boris Johnson and Tony Blair, as well as former US Secretary of State John Kerry.

Rema Discusses “Fake People” in the Music Industry

In related news, famous Afrobeats singer Divine Ikubor, better known by his stage name Rema, spoke about the prevalence of “fake people” in the Nigerian music industry and how it inspired his music.

The global celebrity shared these insights while giving a speech on Thursday night at the Lagos listening party for his second album, “He Is.”

The hitmaker of “Another Banger” revealed that one of the tracks on the album, “Now I Know,” was inspired by the “fake” nature of the industry.

In his words,

“There are a lot of fake people in the [music] industry, the industry is fake. So when people come and say ‘Yo, I love this guy,’ nobody should come at them that they’re chasing clout. No, it’s real.

“When somebody comes out it’s because they’ve seen someone that’s real among everybody in the crazy industry mixed with both the fake and the real. And that’s what this song [‘Now I Know] is all about. Now I know who dey for me. All those I loved turned enemies. Now I know who dey for me. All those I trust turned enemies,” Rema stated.

Rema’s 11-track second album was released on Thursday through Mavin Records, featuring guest performances from Shallipopi and Odumodublvck.
