These operations also led to the destruction of known bandit camps in Kaduna and Niger States.

In a statement released on Friday, the FCT police command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, announced that the six kidnappers were apprehended in the hideouts of a notorious bandit leader, located in the Gidan Dogo and Jerei forests in Kaduna State.

The statement read:

“In our ongoing efforts to combat criminality in the Federal Capital Territory, the FCT police command’s anti-kidnapping unit, in collaboration with troops from the Nigerian Army Guards Brigade, carried out clearance operations in identified bandit camps in Kaduna and Niger States, which border the FCT.

“Between June 30 and July 4, 2024, our security operatives conducted a series of well-coordinated operations. They targeted bandit camps in the Gidan Dogo and Jerei forests in Kaduna State, as well as in Niger State. During these operations, we apprehended six suspects: Inusa Musa, Isiya Adamu, Kare Gambo, Aminu Musa, and Muhammed Ibrahim. These individuals have confessed to being involved in multiple kidnappings within the FCT and surrounding areas.

“While our operatives continue to navigate through the identified bandit camps and hideouts in the forests and hills around the FCT, the Commissioner of Police for the FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, reaffirms our steadfast commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the residents of the nation’s capital.”

CP Igweh also urged residents to remain vigilant and to use the police emergency lines to report any suspicious activities.

By maintaining a strong presence and continuing these coordinated operations, the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Army Guards Brigade aim to disrupt criminal activities and enhance the security of the FCT and its neighboring states.
