Nigeria’s very own musicians, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems and Burna Boy, made their first MET Gala debut. They are the first ever Nigerian singers to ever be invited to and attend the MET Gala.

It is worth noting that the MET Gala is one of the most significant fashion events in the world. On May 1st, 2023, the annual MET gala was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Costume Institute in the United States.

The 2023 MET Gala theme was “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” while the dress code was “in honor of Karl.” Karl Lagerfeld is an iconic designer who died in 2019 at 85.

Tems and Burna Boy both looked so stunning and ravishing in their outfits. While we still have not recovered from Tems’ look at the 2023 Academy Awards, she has again given us an iconic look.

Tems was dressed in Robert Wun – a black corset top and white bottom with a little train and black elbow length gloves. Her look was very detailed and she sure stuck to the theme of the event.

In Tems’ interview with Essence Magazine, Tems expressed her excitement for her debut at the event.

In her words, “Oh my goodness! I have never done a Met Gala before. So, I’m so excited. It’s my first time. It’s going to be lit!”

It is no new news that the MET Gala has taken months of planning and preparations. There were about 600 attendees this year, which Vogue claims is the usual number for the program. A-listers such as Rita Ora, Rihanna, Billie Eilish, Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian, and so on were in attendance.
