Ten-man Arsenal held Liverpool to a 0-0 draw at Anfield in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg, despite playing most of the match with 10 men.
Arsenal was forced to play more than 65 minutes with 10 men after Granit Jaka was sent off for a wild tackle against Diogo Jota.
Despite the dominance, the Reds failed to score a single goal until the end as Arsenal pulled off a very valuable draw ahead of the Emirate’s second leg.
Liverpool needed to win over the injury but Takumi Minamino, who replaced Salah and Mane during AFCON, failed to score an open goal from eight yards.
This makes Arsenal the first team to stop Liverpool’s goals at Anfield in all competitions this season.
The winner between Arsenal and Liverpool in two games met Chelsea in the Wembley final.
In the second leg on Wednesday, Chelsea beat Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 and qualified for the final 3-0 in the table.
