In a touching update that has warmed hearts across Nollywood, actress Juliana Olayode, popularly known as Toyo Baby, has shared the deeply personal and spiritual journey that led to her reconciliation with her former mentor, Funke Akindele.
After years of a well-known fallout that led to her exit from Jenifa’s Diary, Juliana opened up during an interview with Chude Jideonwo on Sunday, March 29, 2026. She explained what truly brought them back together.
Choosing Healing Over Career
One of the most powerful parts of her story is that the reconciliation had nothing to do with work. While many fans believed a reunion might happen for professional reasons, Juliana made it clear that her focus was purely on restoring their relationship.

“I prayed to God for years for this restoration,” she shared. “I told God, I don’t care if I never get to work with her again. What I want is to be able to go to her house, laugh with her, and greet her. It was just about the relationship.”
Taking Responsibility
Looking back on the fallout, Juliana openly admitted her own mistakes. She explained that her sudden rise to fame at a young age left her unprepared for the realities of the industry.
She also mentioned that a misleading email sent by a former manager played a role in the misunderstanding, even though she was not fully aware of it at the time. By acknowledging her actions and apologizing, she created room for healing and forgiveness.

A Warm Reunion

Recent highlights of their reunion include:
- Working together again on set, including appearances in projects like Behind The Scenes and Everybody Loves Jenifa
- A renewed bond built on respect and affection
Juliana now sees Funke as a mother figure and strong supporter, while Funke fondly refers to her as “Omo mi.”
