Donald Trump has claimed that the United States has “won” its military confrontation with Iran, saying Iranian leaders were caught off guard by the scale of the American military response as tensions in the Middle East continue.
Speaking to reporters, Trump said Tehran did not anticipate the intensity of the U.S. strikes and praised the speed and effectiveness of American forces during the conflict. His comments come as tensions remain high in the region following joint military actions by the United States and Israel targeting Iranian sites.
“We’ve won. We don’t like to say we’ve won too early, but we’ve won. In the first hour, it was over,” Trump said during a recent Republican gathering where he also described how he was asked to choose a code name for the U.S. attack on Iran.
According to him, he selected the name “EPIC FURY,” explaining that it was a name that would only make sense if the United States emerged victorious.
Earlier, Trump had also said the U.S. military operation significantly weakened Iran’s capabilities. He described the campaign as a powerful show of force and commended American troops for carrying out what he called a successful mission.
The conflict began after strikes targeted Iranian military facilities and infrastructure. Since then, both sides have exchanged attacks, with Iran launching retaliatory missile and drone strikes while U.S. forces continued operations against key strategic locations.
Trump insisted that the U.S. military caused serious damage to Iranian assets, including naval equipment and weapons infrastructure. He said the strikes were meant to eliminate threats and protect American interests and its allies in the region.
Despite Trump’s declaration of victory, the situation remains uncertain. Military actions have not officially ended, and analysts say tensions across the Middle East are still high. The confrontation has also raised concerns among world leaders about the possibility of a broader regional conflict.
The crisis has also sparked economic concerns globally, especially in energy markets. The Middle East plays a crucial role in global oil production and shipping, and instability in the region often leads to fluctuations in oil prices.
Diplomatic observers believe the coming days will be crucial in determining whether the conflict begins to ease or escalates further. While Trump maintains that the United States has achieved its objective, many international leaders are urging restraint and calling for steps to prevent further escalation.
For now, the standoff involving the United States, Iran, and their regional allies continues to develop, with governments and global markets closely watching how the situation unfolds.
