Imane Anys popularly referred to as ‘Pokimane‘ was temporarily banned from using Twitch. This came as a result of the DMCA takedown that happened while she was watching Avatar.
Pokimane is known as one of the most engaging content creators and has about 8.5 million followers on the platform. Despite the ban, she is reported to be back using her Twitch account after 48 hours.
As stated by Pokimane through a tweet, she legit got banned for watching over 10 episodes of the Avatar: The Last Airbender live and reinstated her plans to be back online with a 12-hour stream of the movie on Monday.
Avatar: The Last Airbender
Avatar: The Last Airbender was a movie that was shown on Nickelodeon from the years 2005 to 2008. The Avatar: The Last Airbender is owned by Viacom CBS, comprising of the animated series, live action films, books, comics, soundtrack, video games, with many projects still on the way.
According to the Twitch tracker, Pokimane had about 25,000 viewers during the stream before getting banned.
Twitch, however, has had a long history of removing content after receiving takedown requests by the DMCA from companies, especially from streaming songs, movies or any intellectual property that is registered.
The story does not end there as she has responded to the ban. She stated that she wasn’t surprised or angry about the ban and insisted that the ban was fair. In her words,
‘To be clear about this situation, I’m not in any way surprised or think it was unfair. In my opinion, I think it was unavoidable that the content makers would take action on me.’ After her rant on the platform, she said she would give her full opinion on what she thinks on Monday.
The Twitch social platform has developed very rapidly in recent years and by the look of things, this year 2022 will be not be exempted.
