The 2022 series of The Masked Singer saw Will Young become the third mystery singer on the show. The 8th day of January on the TV show that aired on ITV saw Lionfish compete against Firework in the dance-off in the presence of top judges such as Rita Ora, Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan, Jonathan Ross.
The panel of judges decided to use the save Firework as a result making the identity of Lion fish revealed. Although Rita and Ross suggested that the mystery singer was Will Young.
He told ITV: ‘Hiding my identity was so easy and made my performance enjoyable. I was very nervous when I was asked to open the mask but all in all, it was a good experience.’ While the program was ongoing, several things suggested that it was Will Young that was behind the mask which included references to his French and German ties and facts about his job.
Many social media users disagreed being of the conviction that it was Eddie Izzard that was behind the mask as it was notorious to perform her comedy in German and French languages.
Others were of the opinion that the man behind the mask was Divina de Campo, who once had a career as a musician.
During the closing episodes, Will Young reinstated just as he has done in many interviews he has been in thatt he was a feminist and valued friendships as it was an important part of his life making it easier for viewers and the judges to predict who he was.
