In a recent event at the Lagos airport, an aircraft from XEJET Airlines veered off the runway, reminiscent of the Dana Air shutdown just over two weeks ago. The incident occurred at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, where the plane made an unscheduled landing on the grass.
In response to this event, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has taken action by closing the 18/Left runway of the airport.
The Airbus, identified by its registration 5N-BZZ, was carrying 52 passengers and had departed from Abuja. Its landing in Lagos at 11:29 am marked the onset of the incident.
Confirming the event, the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) stated that the XEJET Airlines aircraft had indeed skidded off the runway at the domestic wing of the airport.
Further details on the incident are yet to be revealed, and updates will follow as they become available.
