The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a young man in Abuja, suspected of internet fraud, commonly known as a “Yahoo boy.” He is accused of holding a woman against her will, allegedly for a money ritual.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were the ones who carried out the arrest. According to the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the police are waiting for the NSCDC to formally hand over the suspect.
A video of the incident went viral on social media, showing a woman tied up in a room. It was alleged that the suspect had confined her at the Top View Hotel in Wuse, Abuja, as part of a ritual practice.
In a statement released on Thursday, SP Josephine Adeh confirmed that the NSCDC is currently holding the suspect and has not yet transferred him to the police for a full investigation. She added that once the handover occurs, the police will conduct a thorough investigation and update the public with further developments.
A young lady, Olivia, was apparently held captive at Top View Hotel in Wuse, Abuja, by a ‘Yahoo Boy,’ for allegedly 'ritual purposes'.
