Yakubu Gowon says Bola Ahmed Tinubu is prioritising Nigeria’s interests across all sectors.

Yakubu Gowon Praises Bola Ahmed Tinubu for Efforts to Address Nigeria’s Challenges

Former Nigerian head of state Yakubu Gowon has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his efforts to tackle the country’s challenges and safeguard Nigeria’s interests across different sectors.

Gowon made the remarks on Saturday after paying a courtesy visit to the president at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Speaking with journalists after the meeting, the former leader said his visit was mainly to appreciate the president for the work his administration is doing for the country.

“I came to see him and to thank him for all the good work he is doing for Nigeria,” Gowon said.

He noted that the government is making progress in several areas, including the economy and governance, adding that the president appears committed to improving conditions across the country.

“We discussed the progress Nigeria is making economically and in other sectors. The president is doing the best he can in every area — political, economic, social and others.”

However, Gowon acknowledged that security remains one of the country’s biggest challenges, but said the president is working hard to address the issue for the benefit of all Nigerians.

“Of course, security is the major problem we face today, but he is doing everything possible to deal with it for the good of the country,” he added.

The former leader also urged Nigerians to remain patient and continue supporting the government as it works to stabilise the country and promote unity.

“The situation we face today is something the government must handle carefully, and the president is doing his best to address it without creating further problems for the nation,” Gowon said.

He expressed confidence that the administration would continue making progress in delivering good governance and strengthening national unity.

“I believe the government is managing the situation as best as it can so that Nigeria will eventually achieve the peace and stability it truly deserves.”
