Youth Corps Member Renovates Dilapidated Classroom After Sleepless Night: A Story of Determination and Impact

In a video she shared on her social media page, she detailed the emotional journey that led her to make this significant decision.

She recalled that upon entering the classroom for the first time, she was deeply disturbed by its state. The sight left her unable to sleep that night, and she knew she had to take action.

Motivated by the desire to create a better learning environment, she decided to renovate the classroom and repair the damaged chairs.

In the video, she also included a heartfelt note that sheds more light on her experience:

“The truth is, going for NYSC last year was not an easy decision for me, but deep down, I knew it was something I wanted to do, at least for my mother…I still can’t quite understand the fascination mothers have with NYSC 🤣.”

“I was posted to Madalla Secondary School in Suleja, where I teach SS1A Biology…my favorite subject😁.”

“The moment I stepped into this class, I knew I had to do something about its condition. And guess what? I DID IT🥳 Thanks to my amazing friends and the wonderful Rotarians around me; you guys mean the world to me.x”

“Was it easy? NO.”

“Was it a challenge? YES.”

“Did I feel like giving up at some point? YES.”

“Did it consume my time? YES.”

“BUT I DID IT ANYWAY!!!”

“I had two main goals: First, to create a conducive learning environment, and second, to set up a mini-workshop to encourage the students to take more responsibility for their surroundings.”

“The reality is, no one – not even the government – can help you if you’re not willing to take responsibility for what you can do to improve your situation.”

She also expressed her gratitude, saying, “Dear friends, NYSC, Madalla community, the principal, my LGI (Local Government Inspector), my Matron, my students, and my wonderful self for making this possible. I am also deeply grateful for all the support, love, and kindness I’ve received ❤️.”

Her efforts have sparked a wave of admiration and gratitude across social media, with many people leaving comments to praise her actions.

The truth is going to NYSC last year was not an easy task for me but deep down, I knew that I wanted to do it at least for my mother’s sake…I still cannot understand what mothers see in NYSC🤣 I was posted to Madalla Secondary School in Suleja where I teach SS1A Biology…my favorite subject😁 The moment I entered this class, I knew I had to do something about the situation in the classroom, and guess you what, I DID IT🥳 Thanks to my amazing friends and quality Rotarians around me, you guys mean the world to me🫶 Was it easy? I had two goals in mind; The first was to create a conducive learning environment, and the second was to create a mini-workshop for the kids to take more accountability and responsibility for their actions. The truth is nobody/government can save you unless you do the little you can do to help yourself by taking responsibility for the little you have. Dear friends, NYSC, Madalla community, the principal, my LGI (Local Government Inspector), my Matron, my students, and my beautiful self for making this possible, and also thanks for your support, love, and kindness❤️ God bless Nigeria 🇳🇬 @Onyebuchi Ibe @NYSC DIARY NIGERIA 🕴️ #nysc #nyscdiary #youthservice #viral #kindness #lindaikejiblog #krakstv
