Renowned actress Angela Okorie has publicly criticized fellow actor Zubby Michael for his flamboyant display of giving money to the family of the late actor, Junior Pope, during his burial.
In a video that recently circulated online, Zubby Michael is seen taking bundles of cash from his bag and handing them to Junior Pope’s family in a highly visible manner. This act has sparked controversy and drawn the ire of Angela Okorie, who has been vocal about her disapproval of Zubby’s actions since Junior Pope’s passing.
Angela Okorie expressed her displeasure on her Instagram page, arguing that Zubby Michael’s public donation was unnecessary and purely for show. She believes that such gestures should be done discreetly, without seeking attention.
In her Instagram post, Angela wrote:
“Zubby, if you really wanted to give money to Junior Pope’s family, you should have done it quietly. The way I used to give you money back in the day, nobody knew about it. But you decided to plant a camera to film yourself handing over bundles of cash to Junior Pope’s family. We all know you love propaganda. Just stop it.
A young person has died, and your showcase of money was unnecessary. But as a local boy, you don’t seem to have the sense to know when to show off and when to behave appropriately. Do you think you have more money than all the dignitaries who attended? Fool.”
Angela Okorie’s candid criticism highlights a broader debate about the appropriateness of public displays of charity, especially in sensitive situations like funerals.
