The Nigerian Air Force, in collaboration with ground troops from the Nigerian Army, conducted a successful operation resulting in the elimination of several terrorists and the destruction of their hideouts in Borno State.
Terrorist Operation Foiled
In a coordinated effort between the air component of Operation Hadin Kai and troops from the Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Air Force thwarted an attempted terrorist attack on troops of Sector 4 of the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) at Lada, a town on the border between Niger Republic and Nigeria. The terrorists, after their failed attempt, fled across the border into Nigeria.
Tracking Down the Fleeing Terrorists
Following the terrorists’ retreat, efforts were made to track them down. Intelligence led the authorities to Zarri village, located approximately 28 kilometers east of Damasak, and Mala Alide in the Mobbar areas of Borno State. It was there that the fleeing terrorists were found, hidden in the village with their motorcycles cleverly concealed under trees.
Air Strikes Decimate Terrorists’ Hideouts
The Nigerian Air Force, in collaboration with the Nigerien Air Force and under the surveillance of Niger’s Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft, launched air interdiction strikes on the terrorists’ hideouts in Damasak and Mobbar Local Government Areas. The strikes were precise, targeting the identified locations of the terrorists.
Successful Elimination of Bokoharam Terrorists
Real-time surveillance footage confirmed the success of the operation. Numerous terrorists were neutralized, and their structures within the targeted areas were obliterated. This collaborative effort between the Nigerian and Nigerien forces has proven to be effective in combating terrorism and curbing cross-border crimes.
Positive Outcomes and Continued Security Collaboration
The joint efforts between the Nigerian Air Force, the Nigerian Army, and the Nigerien Air Force have yielded positive results in ensuring security along the border regions. These collaborative operations not only deter terrorist activities but also contribute to the reduction of other forms of cross-border crimes, as criminals find it increasingly difficult to evade justice.
The recent operation underscores the commitment of the Nigerian Air Force and its partners to safeguarding the nation’s territory and ensuring the safety of its citizens. Through coordinated efforts and strategic operations, terrorist threats are being neutralized, and peace and security are being restored in affected areas.
