Yahaya Bello: School writes EFCC to refund $760k fees paid for ex-Kogi gov's children

Reportedly, Bello paid $720,000 from Kogi state funds to educate his five kids in grades 2 to 8.

EFCC tried to arrest Bello for an alleged ₦80.2 billion fraud, but he was taken by Kogi’s governor, Usman Ododo, during the siege on his Abuja residence.

AISA stated in a letter to EFCC that they paid $845,852 in tuition fees from September 7, 2021.

They mentioned $760,910 should be refunded after deducting the cost of education already given.

In a letter seen by Pulse, it says, “Please send an official request, with EFCC’s accurate banking details, for the refund of the funds related to your investigation into the alleged money laundering by the Bello family.”

“From September 7, 2021, till now, $845,852.84 in tuition and fees has been deposited in our account.

“After deducting the education costs, the net refundable amount is $760,910.84.

“No more fees are due for tuition as the students’ fees are paid until they finish ASIA.”

The school pledged to inform the anti-corruption agency if the Bello family tries to pay more.

A statement by Greg Hughes mentioned that Ali Bello wanted to pay school fees in advance until his kids graduated high school.

After this, EFCC declared Ali Bello as wanted, and the NIS put the ex-governor on a watchlist.
