Popular Nigerian comedian Deeone has voiced criticism against Chioma Rowland’s family, accusing them of prioritizing money over tradition. Chioma, wife of music sensation Davido, had her traditional wedding held in Lagos instead of their Imo State hometown, according to Deeone’s Instagram video.
Deeone lamented what he sees as a double standard in Igbo tradition, where wealth influences adherence to customs. He argued that while tradition dictates a bride’s wedding should be in her hometown, Chioma’s family allegedly overlooked this due to Davido’s affluent status.
“If Davido were less wealthy, Chioma’s family would insist on a traditional wedding in her hometown. But because of money, respected Igbo leaders traveled to Lagos,” Deeone emphasized.
