British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua survived a serious car accident in Nigeria that claimed the lives of two people after the SUV he was travelling in crashed on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Witnesses say Joshua was seated in the back directly behind the driver when the Lexus lost control and hit a stationary truck, killing two of the occupants at the scene.

Officials confirmed that Joshua sustained only minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. His security detail, who were in a separate vehicle, were uninjured. Preliminary investigations suggest the vehicle was travelling above the speed limit before the collision occurred.

The accident has drawn attention to road safety concerns on the busy highway, and authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
