Nigerian musician and activist Charly Boy has expressed his view that the All Progressives Congress (APC), the current ruling party in Nigeria, has no genuine intention of addressing the issues affecting the Nigerian people.
On August 7, 2024, Charly Boy took to Instagram to share a video clip featuring Nollywood actor Kenneth Okonkwo during an interview on Channels Television. The video resonated with Charly Boy’s perspective on the APC’s governance.
In the video, Kenneth Okonkwo criticizes the APC, stating, “They unleashed the greatest protest in this country during Goodluck Jonathan’s administration over a 20 naira increase in fuel prices. Now, they’ve removed fuel subsidies, pushing fuel prices to 1000 naira, even 1200 naira in Lagos, and it’s not even available. What a government!”
Okonkwo went on to say, “People are protesting because of hunger, hardship, deprivation, and degradation. The president was compelled to speak, but I wish they hadn’t forced him to. As a media aide, I would have advised against the speech altogether because no speech is better than a bad one.”
In response to Okonkwo’s words, Charly Boy shared his respect by removing his cap and agreeing with the actor’s sentiments. He commented that the APC has forced its way into power without any real commitment to improving the lives of the people.
In his caption, Charly Boy wrote, “Well said, my brother Kenneth. I salute you. You can’t give what you don’t have. If it isn’t there, it isn’t there. APC never came to solve people’s problems; they imposed themselves on us to build their private empires on the backs of the masses.”
He further criticized the party’s leadership style, adding, “Leaders with toxic behaviors only thrive on controlling people, not inspiring them. They’ve taken power by force and intend to rule over us by force. Nigerian youths, this mafia must be dismantled, or there will never be peace in our land. Nonsense! Their fathers!”
