Six Senior NSCDC Officers Under EFCC Scrutiny

At present, these officers are undergoing rigorous questioning by EFCC officials at the commission’s headquarters located in Jabi, Abuja, according to reliable sources familiar with the matter.

While specific details regarding the investigation remain unclear, it’s been disclosed by sources, who prefer anonymity due to lack of authorization to speak to the media, that the NSCDC officers were transferred to the EFCC’s custody on Monday following directives from the NSCDC Commandant General, Ahmed Audi.

Prior to this, the EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, had penned a letter to the NSCDC Commandant General, formally requesting the release of these officers for interrogation.

According to an insider, “Six senior NSCDC officers are currently under our custody. They’re undergoing intense interrogation regarding suspected fraudulent activities amounting to over N6 billion.”

Another source, affirming the situation, stated, “The EFCC hasn’t detained the NSCDC Commandant General, nor is he under investigation. We solely have custody of six senior NSCDC officers who are being investigated for an alleged N6 billion fraud.”

“The EFCC Chairman had previously reached out to the NSCDC CG requesting the presence of these officers, and the CG complied. As a result, they are now in our custody undergoing questioning by EFCC interrogators.”

Despite attempts to obtain comments from the EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, on Monday, there was no response to phone calls or text messages.

On the other hand, when approached for a statement, the NSCDC spokesperson, Babawale Afolabi, expressed unawareness of the situation. In a brief WhatsApp message sent to our correspondent, Afolabi stated, “I’m not aware of this.”
