Verydarkman Criticizes Dangote Over $100M Refinery Claims

Nigerian social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, known online as Verydarkman (VDM), has weighed in on the controversy surrounding billionaire Aliko Dangote’s recent issues with the government.

Verydarkman Criticizes Dangote Over $100M Refinery Claims

Dangote, who leads the Dangote Group, recently claimed that his company did not receive any incentives from either the federal government or Lagos State for building its $20 billion refinery in the Lekki Free Trade Zone. He made this statement during a visit to the refinery by members of the House of Representatives, including Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu.

Following this, Dangote announced that he is willing to transfer ownership of his massive oil refinery to the state-owned Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited.

In response to Dangote’s press session, Verydarkman criticized the billionaire, asserting that the current government under Bola Ahmed Tinubu has made things difficult for Dangote. VDM challenged Dangote’s claims that the refinery was intended to benefit the nation, accusing him of using monopolistic strategies.

Verydarkman suggested that Dangote should reconsider his decision to sell the refinery to NNPC and instead seek a new agreement with the government. He believes that negotiating a better deal could potentially resolve the current difficulties Dangote faces, rather than rushing to sell the refinery.
