The Lagos State Police Command made headlines on Tuesday as they apprehended the controversial musician, Habeeb Okikiola, famously known as Portable. His arrest stems from his failure to settle a debt incurred during the purchase of a G-Wagon from a local car dealer in the state.

Reports reveal that Portable, in the course of acquiring the vehicle valued at N27 million, only disbursed N13 million, neglecting the remaining N14 million under the pretext of the car being defective. Despite persistent requests from the dealer to clear the outstanding balance, Portable consistently cited faults with the vehicle as grounds for non-payment.

Following the dealer’s persistence and inability to reach a resolution, law enforcement intervened. The dealer lodged a formal complaint with the police, prompting an investigation into the matter. Consequently, officers were dispatched to address the issue, culminating in Portable’s arrest.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, affirmed Portable’s detainment, shedding light on the circumstances. “Yes, Portable has been arrested. He bought a G-Wagon for N27 million, paid N13 million, and refused to settle the rest, alleging vehicle defects. We took him into custody today,” SP Hundeyin stated.
