The arrest follows the dismantling of a drug syndicate allegedly led by Stanley, with his wife overseeing the profits generated by the illegal operation.

Assets Worth Rs 1.06 Crore Frozen

As part of the operation, authorities have frozen assets worth Rs 1.06 crore linked to the couple.

Amit Ghawate, the Additional Director of NCB Goa, disclosed this development in a statement issued on Thursday, April 11, 2024, according to the Press Trust of India.

Arrest and Investigation Details

Ghawate stated that the Nigerian drug kingpin was apprehended on Wednesday after a thorough investigation. The arrest stemmed from the confiscation of 7.35 grams of cocaine from Raju S, a resident of Saligao, on February 13, 2024, based on a tip-off received by the NCB Goa team.

“During the initial investigation, it was discovered that the accused was a low-level peddler working for a larger drug network led by Stanley and his wife, Usha C, both residing in Candolim,” Ghawate explained.

Further investigations led to the arrest of another field peddler named Michael, a taxi driver from Candolim, on February 16, 2024.

Operations and Arrests

The NCB raided Stanley’s residence, but he had already been apprehended by the Telangana Police in a separate Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) case.

Subsequent inquiries revealed the active involvement of Usha C in drug trafficking and managing the proceeds generated by the illicit network. She was arrested on February 21, 2024.

Identification of Illicitly Acquired Properties

Authorities initiated proceedings to identify properties illegally acquired by the couple to weaken the drug network further. Properties obtained through illicit means, totaling one crore rupees and belonging to Usha C and Stanley, have been identified and frozen.

Stanley was rearrested by NCB Goa on Wednesday, and investigations are ongoing, Ghawate confirmed.
