Authorities report that Buzu operates a camp in Sububu forest and resides in the Shinkafi local government area of Zamfara state. Gusau, Zamfara State – On Thursday, May 16, the Nigerian military announced that Halilu Buzu is wanted for his involvement in terrorist activities, cattle rustling, illegal arms trafficking, and unlawful mining. Major-General Edward Buba, the director of defence media operations, made this announcement during the bi-weekly media briefing in Abuja. He stated that Buzu, originally from Niger Republic, often retreats to his home country after conducting attacks in Nigeria.

Channels Television reported on the latest update from the defence headquarters. Major-General Buba emphasized that the military is collaborating closely with counterparts in Niger Republic to ensure Buzu’s capture.

The cooperation between the Nigerian and Nigerien military forces underscores a broader regional effort to address the escalating security concerns and bring perpetrators of violence to justice.
