The football world is still reacting to the major news that Mohamed Salah will leave Liverpool at the end of the season. After nine remarkable years, 255 goals, and helping the club secure a record-equalling 20th league title, the Egyptian forward has agreed to end his contract early and depart as a free agent this summer.
While fans have been excited by the idea of Salah joining Lionel Messi at Inter Miami, voices from Egypt are warning against such a move, suggesting it could take him out of the global spotlight.
“He’ll Be Forgotten” — Warning from Egypt
One of the strongest opinions has come from Ibrahim Hassan, director of the Egyptian national team and twin brother of head coach Hossam Hassan. Speaking shortly after the announcement, he advised Salah to remain in a more competitive and visible league.
“I’m not convinced about a move to the American league. He would be too far from the spotlight, and people may forget about him,” Hassan said.
He suggested that if top European offers don’t arrive, Salah should consider the Saudi Pro League, where several global stars already play.
“If Europe isn’t an option, the Saudi league would be a good step especially with players like Cristiano Ronaldo there. He should look at top clubs like Al-Ittihad, Al-Hilal, or Al-Nassr.”

Inter Miami Move Unlikely

Despite speculation about a potential partnership with Messi and Luis Suárez at Inter Miami, a deal appears unlikely for now.
The MLS club currently has all three of its Designated Player (DP) slots filled occupied by Messi, Rodrigo de Paul, and Germán Berterame making it difficult to accommodate Salah’s salary.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has also dismissed the rumors, stating that Inter Miami are not in talks to sign the Liverpool star.
Saudi Clubs Ready to Act
With an MLS move looking unlikely, attention has shifted to the Saudi Pro League, which has been tracking Salah for over two years.
Now available on a free transfer, the Egyptian star is expected to receive a lucrative offer soon. Al-Ittihad is believed to be leading the race, viewing Salah as a perfect global ambassador for the league, especially given his immense popularity across the Arab world.

A Legendary Liverpool Career

- Total Goals: 255 (3rd all-time for Liverpool)
- Premier League Goals: 191 (4th all-time in league history)
- Appearances: 435

What’s Next?
Salah has just a few weeks left at Anfield before beginning a new chapter. While the idea of a move to Miami has captured attention, many believe his future is more likely to remain in a highly competitive league, whether in Europe or Saudi Arabia, where he can continue to perform on the biggest stage.
